As part of the Istanbul Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SKUP) Phase II – Implementation Plan Project, the Healthy Streets Workshop was successfully completed on 17 December 2024. The workshop aimed to present and evaluate concept designs prepared for the districts of Avcılar, Bakırköy, Bayrampaşa, Bağcılar, and Esenler on the European side of the city.
The event began with presentations by Dr. Sertaç Erten and Batuhan Akkaya from the project team. Following the opening remarks, participants were introduced to the overall goals and details of the Healthy Streets Project. During the workshop sessions, participants shared their views on healthy street initiatives and proposed solutions for further improvement.
Throughout the workshop, the district-specific designs were reviewed in detail. The feedback collected provided valuable input for the next phases of the projects.
In the afternoon evaluation forum, the morning sessions were summarized, and participants exchanged ideas on the designs. They presented detailed suggestions for further development of the projects. During the discussions, it was emphasized that the Healthy Streets approach will contribute to making urban life more accessible, safe, and environmentally friendly.
The workshop was recognized as an important step toward making Istanbul a more livable city. The ideas and recommendations shared by participants provided valuable contributions to the project.
