The “1st Awareness Workshop” organized within the scope of the Istanbul SUMP (Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan) Phase II – Implementation Plan Project carried out by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality was held on 12 May 2026 at Point Hotel Taksim.

The event aimed to introduce the city’s sustainable transport vision and the pilot applications developed under the project. Topics such as sustainable urban mobility, accessible transport systems, and inclusive mobility solutions were discussed throughout the programme.

The programme commenced with opening remarks by the IMM Transport Department and the project team:

  • During the session titled “Istanbul’s Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan,” the strategic approach and planning studies developed in line with Istanbul’s 2040 mobility objectives were presented.
  • In the session titled “Introduction of Istanbul SUMP Pilot Projects,” pilot applications related to low-emission zones, active mobility practices, public transport priority solutions, and accessible transport approaches were introduced to participants.

During the evaluation sessions held in the afternoon, participants shared their views and recommendations regarding the transformation of Istanbul’s transport system into a more accessible, safe, inclusive, and environmentally sustainable structure.

The event stood out as a collaborative platform contributing to the evaluation of Istanbul’s future mobility vision through a participatory approach.
