Within the scope of the Istanbul Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SKUP) Phase II – Implementation Plan Project, the second Capacity-Building Training on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for sustainable urban mobility was organized. The training, co-financed by the European Union under the Transport Sectoral Operational Programme (USOP), was delivered for staff of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM).
The training, conducted by Research Assistant Yiğit Can Yavuz, was designed to enhance advanced and effective use of GIS and related software. The program began with an introduction to advanced editing tools and continued with 3D map and graphic visualizations. Participants received both theoretical and practical knowledge on topics such as data selection, matching, linking, data transfer, and domain creation.
In the afternoon sessions, subjects including network analysis, topology checks, model-building tools, and service area analysis were addressed. Concluding with case studies and interactive Q&A sessions, the training provided participants with valuable insights into the effective use of GIS in sustainable urban mobility planning.
