Within the scope of the Istanbul SUMP (Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan) Phase II – Implementation Plan Project carried out by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the “Future of Transport: Istanbul Mobility Scenarios Workshop – II” which will help shape the city’s transport future, was held at Point Hotel Barbaros.
During the workshop, the technical details of the strategic scenarios developed to achieve Istanbul’s 2040 mobility objectives were presented. Building on the outcomes of the first workshop, this new phase enabled participants to assess all transport investment components collectively under different scenario conditions.
The opening remarks were delivered by Seda Özdemir, Deputy Head of the Transport Planning Department at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
As part of the programme:
- Haluk Camcıgil presented “Introduction to SUMP Scenarios and the Scenario Planning Process,” outlining the work carried out since the first workshop and the methodology used to develop the scenarios.
- Işıl Nadire Yener and Haluk Camcıgil delivered the session titled “Future-Oriented Transport Projects and the Introduction of SUMP Projects,” where they shared technical details on planned transport investments of the municipality and the Istanbul SUMP pilot projects.
In the afternoon sessions, experts and stakeholders provided evaluations to support the projects planned under the investment framework aligned with four mobility scenarios.
The event stood out as a platform contributing to the development of a more sustainable urban transport system for the city.
